The Molecular GeoBiology Lab investigates molecular interactions between organic molecules and minerals using video-rate atomic force microscopy (AFM) and wet chemistry facilities for nano-scale and bulk experiments. The lab supports research on topics including DNA preservation in sediments, protein conservation in archaeological samples, horizontal gene transfer, antibiotic resistance in the environment, and mineral-facilitated prebiotic chemistry.
